For this cover the designers wanted Omnius to look like a threatening king in his own throne, and also to make a different robot, running out of humanoid concepts. So I came up with this design based on the "clinic metal" look, clean metal with a noble look almost close to titanium. To reinforce the "surgery" concept I added those spider-knife arms. I also faded Omnius in the darkness showing all the pipes going up to hint the shown robot as the "visible part of the iceberg". I've always been a big DUNE fan, and always wanted to know about the dark times of the famous Butlerian Jihad and the Orange Catholic Bible that Frank Herbert hinted in the original DUNE series. Thankfully, Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson came up with the new serie and again I had the pleasure of illustrate it. I hope you enjoy the illustrations.
